My Name is Michael Houston, I was born and raised in Golden, Illinois. I grew up as a farm kid helping my father and brother to this day. I graduated in 2014 from Central High School in Camp Point, an went on to Western Illinois University. I obtained a degree in Agriculture Business and a minor in Agronomy where I graduated in May of 2018. While at western I was involved in many clubs and organizations which I held leadership positions in each one over the course of 2014-2018.  I currently farm around 300 ac myself and 4100ac for the family on a fully rotated between corn and soybean operation in Golden, Illinois.

What I love most about the family farm is we are always trying something new to understand what changes or additions we may need to make in the future. I feel like we are leading edge with technology and farming practices. I also run my own precision ag business, Houston Agronomics, where I sell, install and service any precision ag equipment for planters, tractors, and combines as well as making fertility recommendations and Variable Rate Prescriptions in the surrounding 5 county area.

I am currently the President of Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden, Illinois and Assistant Chief of the Golden Fire Protection District. I recently got engaged to my Fiancé Carissa Richardson and will be getting married next March 2023 where we look to build our family on the original family farmstead. My special hobbies include trap shooting throughout the year working on small projects around the farm.

My interest was peaked in IL Corn when I heard from another local farmer that was on the boards before. I have always been involved in clubs, groups, etc. in high school and college and wanted to continue a path being involved in leadership in the ag world. I look forward to meeting many new people to make connections that last a lifetime. I enjoy hearing from others and value their opinions and ideas.
