Shane Gray

Shane was born and raised in Morgan County Illinois and has lived in his hometown of Waverly for 53 years.  Currently, he farms with his son-Brady and father-in-law-Bob Johnson in both Morgan and Sangamon counites where they grow soybeans and corn.  Shane also owns and acts as the agent of Johnson Risk Management Crop Insurance Services.  They provide risk management for farmers in 14 different Central Illinois Counties. He also owns and operates S&J Gray Trucking Inc. with his wife Joni, son Brady, and daughter Grace.  We haul a variety of commodities from grain, field tile, fertilizers, and rock to paper, cardboard, and food grade products all over the Midwest.

Graduating from Waverly High School in 1988, he went on to Illinois State University in 1993 where he majored in Social Science Education.  Before he began his career in Agriculture, he taught and held administrative positions for 25 years in the public education system.  Currently he serves on the City Council of Waverly as an Alderman of Ward #1 and as a Board member of Midwest Truckers Association Central Advisory Committee.

Shane married his high school sweetheart, Joni, and they've been married now for 28 years.  She is the Accounting Office Manager at the family-owned Scoular Grain Facility in Sangamon, Morgan, and Macoupin Counties.  They have three children Brady-26, Grace-24, Ella-18.

In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor activities and sports, such as pursuing the ever-elusive Whitetail Deer, Largemouth Bass, and the tiny white golf ball.  Along with that, he enjoys reading nonfiction books and listening to easy music with a harmonica leading the way.
