BLOOMINGTON, Ill.-- Illinois Corn Growers Association President Paul Taylor, a family farmer from Esmond, IL, issued the following statement today after hearing the U.S. Senate passed the Agriculture Reform, Food and Jobs Act (2013 farm bill) by a vote of 66-27.

“With the Senate’s passage of the Farm Bill, we’re one step closer to the certainty that corn farmers need to make the best decisions possible for their families.

“Maintaining the integrity of the crop insurance program remains a top priority for the Illinois Corn Growers Association. Our members have repeatedly told us that crop insurance is the most important piece of the farm legislation, aiding in their risk management and ability to maintain their family business from one year to the next.

“There is still a lot of work to be done before the President can sign the final version of the legislation. We look forward to the House stepping up and taking on the task in the coming weeks.”
