Illinois Corn Growers Association member and Farm Hats facebook group founder, Kent Blunier, was honored recently for his involvement in the Livingston County Ag in the Classroom program. Blunier has been supporting AITC for more than 15 years and has sponsored fundraisers on his Farm Hats facebook group for the IAA Foundation. The Illinois Corn Marketing Board has long been a supporter of Ag in the Classroom. Most recently ICMB pledged $85,000 to the program through the IAA Foundation, making your corn checkoff dollars one of the single largest contributors to Ag education in Illinois.

During the last 8 years, Blunier has helped reach more than 900 students and teachers from the Chicago area as a part of the county’s Adopt-A-Classroom program. Blunier also regularly speaks with local teachers as a part of Livingston County’s Summer Ag Institute Breakfast Banter program, where local teachers talk one-on-one with local farmers about agriculture. Blunier’s “Farm Hats” Facebook page shows consumers the day-to-day tasks farmers regularly complete.
