The month of March has been full of opportunities for IL Corn Growers Association leaders and farmer members to connect with their elected officials.  The issue that always makes the priority list?  The need for upgraded locks and dams.

At least three times this month, each member of the Illinois Congressional delegation has heard the same message: farmers rely on vibrant river transportation options, but our current system is old, inefficient, and decaying.

Reminding our elected officials how important river infrastructure is to Illinois farmers is critical as corn and ethanol exports represent one of the quickest ways to build demand and increase corn prices that will keep family farmers in business.

This video by the Waterways Council Inc, of which IL Corn is a member, is another important way we attempt to reach everyone in Washington, DC with our message about the need for funding to rebuild and replace our locks and dams.
