Did you happen to see this article last month that places a degree in Agriculture and Natural Resources among the top five paying degrees for college graduates?

Not that we’re surprised.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, as of 2011, close to one out of every three people over 25 held a bachelor’s degree.  “As recently at 1998, fewer than one-quarter of people this age had this level of education.”

And the following top five career paths allow college graduates the change to earn more than the average $2.4 million over a lifetime.

1. Engineering

2. Computer Science

3. Math and Science

4. Business

5. Agriculture and Natural Resources

It’s a fact that in the recent economic downturn, agriculture has remained a relatively booming business with a bright future.  As the industry heads into a period of slower growth and massive annual losses for farmers, it will be interesting to see where agricultural jobs fair in the future.

On the other hand, no one is going to quit eating anytime soon.

Here’s the full report on Agriculture and Natural Resources jobs:

2015 projected average starting salary: $51,220
Average lifetime earnings: $2.6 million

These grads can earn much more than the average grad, raking in an average starting salary of over $51,000. Again, those who work their way up to management positions generally earn the highest earnings over a lifetime — around $800,000 more than the typical college grad.
