Colombia set a new record for U.S. corn imports in 2016/2017 by taking 4.73 million metric tons (186 million bushels), ranking as the fourth largest buyer of U.S. corn and breaking the previous record set in 2015/2016.

 

Since the U.S.-Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement entered into force in May 2012, corn exports to Colombia have set a new record every subsequent year.

 

Colombia also set a new record for U.S. ethanol exports in 2016/2017, at 13 million gallons (4.6 million bushels of corn equivalent, more than double the previous record set in 2013/2014.

 

Colombia also imported 25,300 metric tons of U.S. corn gluten feed/meal in 2016/2017.

 

According to a recent study of the Colombian market by the Council, the country’s Colombia’s feed imports are likely to continue to expand significantly faster than historical trends have suggested. There is also significant potential for ethanol sales to Colombia.
