EFFECTIVE COVER CROPPING IN THE MIDWEST

Oct 17, 2011  |  Today's News

Are you interested in cover crops as a means to protect the water and soil in your care?  You might be interested in Effective Cover Cropping in the Midwest, a conference sponsored by the Soil and Water Conservation Society and recommended by the Council on Best Management Practices that will provide farmers a forum to exchange information, discuss opportunities for collaboration, and learn about new and successful practices related to cover crops.

Join farmers, crop consultants and university researchers on December 7 and 8 in Decatur, IL for general sessions by Steve Groff, Cedar Meadow Farm and Ken Ferrie, Farm Journal Field Agronomist , three concurrent sessions and a roundtable session. The goal of the conference is to get farmers together to learn how to effectively manage cover crops in a way that enhances soil quality, keeps nutrients in the fields, and increases the bottom line.

As nutrient management becomes more of a hot button issue with the U.S. and Illinois EPA, cover crops could become a best management practice that you need to be aware of.  This low cost conference is your chance to learn more about this current issue.

For more information about attending, speaking, sponsoring, or exhibiting at the conference, please contact Dan Towery (dan@agconservationsolutions.com) or Dewayne Johnson (dewayne.johnson@swcs.org).

Cost for the session is $49 prior to November 1; sign up today
