ICGA SENDS OFFICIAL COMMENTS TO EPA ON RFS WAIVER REQUEST

Oct 12, 2012  |  Today's News

On October 11, the Illinois Corn Growers Association joined many others in filing official comments to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regarding the Renewable Fuels Standard waiver request. Governors from 5 states formerly petitioned EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson for a temporary waiver of the ethanol blending requirements of the RFS2 legislation earlier this fall.

EPA accepted comments on this issue through October 11 and is expected to publish their decision on the waiver on November 11.

The Illinois Corn Growers Association believes that a vibrant ethanol industry is vital to the integrity of rural economies, ag communities, and corn farmers. See this fact sheet for more information. We also believe that the RFS2 has done its job of moving our country away from foreign oil and towards these important benefits and we would never want to undermine the legislation.

ICGA has been a long standing supporter of the RFS legislation, and with that comes the waiver process. We believe that EPA will consider all the necessary data and make a decision on the facts available to them.
