In response to President Obama’s Economic Growth and Deficit Reduction Plan announcement, the Illinois Corn Growers Association wants to remind you that they support efforts to get our federal budget and spending under control.  We want the federal government to tighten their belt and we believe that cuts in spending are a necessary part of the solution.

Illinois corn farmers are even willing to take cuts to their own programs as long as cuts are equitable, balanced and occur across all aspects of the federal budget, affecting all Americans equally.

We are concerned that funding to risk management tools for farmers would be cut significantly in this time of heightened volatility in commodity markets.

The Illinois Corn Growers Association’s Agriculture Disaster Assistance Program (ADAP) plan cuts the budget while offering consistent risk management tools for farmers AND leaving remaining money for deficit reduction.  We look forward to working with the President and the members of Congress to make this plan a reality for Illinois corn farmers.
