Did you know that poverty rates are higher in rural areas than in urban areas? Did you know the rate of rural Americans relying on SNAP (food stamps) is higher than urban American rates? The Nutrition Title of the Farm Bill is far and away the largest budget outlay of the legislation, but don’t mistake it for something not related to farming. We also have programs to help address food insecurity in other parts of the world, as IL Corn farmer and Illinois Corn Growers Association member Howard Buffett, founder of the Buffett Foundation, will explain in this audio report from Stephanie Ho at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
