Confidential water testing is avilable beginning March 1 to farmers all over Illinois who want to begin to understand nutrient losses from their fields.

Nutrient loss not only means water quality concerns, but also lost resources for your crops and lost money in your pocket.  With today’s commodity prices, every farmer in Illinois is likely concerned how much nitrogen he or she is paying for  that is getting washed down river during the Illinois spring rains.

In order to meet the requirements of the Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy, released last fall, something must happen on every acre in Illinois.  Farmers first need to know what their nutrient problem might be before they consider the best management practices to help them minimize a problem.

Confidential water testing is available weekly or bi-weekly in priority watersheds all over Illinois.  For a complete list of all water testing locations, visit www.illinoiscbmp.org/water-testing .
