Today, the Illinois Corn Marketing Board joined other Illinois agribusinesses and associations in supporting an event titled, " Women Changing the Face of Agriculture," a program presented by the Illinois Agri-Women. In partnership with the Renewable Fuels Association, IL Corn presented a session about "green" careers in agriculture.
Held in the Student Center on the Southern Illinois University campus, WCFA hosted several hundred high-school and college-aged young ladies to learn more about careers in agriculture. Careers represented by professional women working in the industry included: agronomy, animal science, veterinary medicine, communications, marketing, law, ag business, ag education, engineering, and more.
The conference theme was "Your Key to the Future" with a keynote address presented by Sarah Muirhead, editor and publisher of Feedstuffs newspaper. Sarah shared her experiences regarding how her career developed through its 27 years at the same publication.
