Illinois Corn Growers Association President Ted Mottaz, a farmer from Elmwood, Ill., issued the following statement following the Environmental Protection Agency’s and United States Department of Agriculture’s announcement to promote biofuels:

“Today, corn farmers all over Illinois are thanking President Trump and his EPA for following through with his commitment to support corn farmers.  Addressing the waived gallons of ethanol and upholding the integrity of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) will give corn farmers the certainty that they finally have additional markets for the corn crop they are currently harvesting.

“I would also like to personally thank all of the Illinois Corn Growers Association members who activated on this issue, by calling a Congressman or submitting a comment to the EPA or in some other way.  Today, you are all responsible for this win.

“ICGA also appreciates the attention of our elected officials who supported us on this issue: Senators Duckworth and Durbin, and Congressmen Bost, Bustos, Casten, R. Davis, Foster, Kelly, Kinzinger, Krishnamoorthi, LaHood, Schakowsky, Shimkus, Underwood.”
