Corn planting is well underway in Illinois with some parts of the state even completely finished with the entire event. How is the rest of the U.S. fairing during this fairly smooth slide into the 2012 crop year?
As you can see, the USDA reports that we are 13 percent ahead of the most recent five year average. Last year at this time we were only eight percent of all corn acres were planted nationally.
In Illinois, the USDA reports that we are 59 percent completed, somewhat ahead of our other large corn producing state counterparts. In 2011, we were only ten percent completed in Illinois – an almost 50 percent difference!
Keep up the good work and be safe!
